Lincoln's Going To TK! (Transitional Kindergarten)

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) was first established with limited capacity in 2010. It offers a space for children to socialize, play, and learn; acting as an optional first step to shared learning and has since grown due to studies indicating students who complete TK have stronger skills in math and literacy.

My son, Lincoln, was born during the pandemic and rarely goes anywhere without his family. His lack of exposure has made him shy but lately, we've been doing what we can to help him socialize, primarily with sports. We recently signed him up for soccer and T-ball and it's warmed my heart to see him open up more and more with his coach and teammates. Because he's recently turned 4 years old, California recommends sending your children to TK; however, sending him to school now simply feels too soon! Between his feelings and my own, I can't bare to send him away. Even if sessions are just 4 hours long...

Reluctant but curious, I call the local school to ask questions about enrolling Lincoln. They immediately direct me to a form for enrollment which made me nervous, I just wanted to learn about their services! Ultimately, I filled it out and scheduled a tour for our family.

At the tour, we learned about recent teaching methods, like assigning iPads to the students and letting them take them home. There are no textbooks, everything is digitized or online. Use of the iPads outside of school is optional and I think our family will exercise that right. At the end of the tour, I got to explain our particular predicament to the principal, how we felt cautious about sending Lincoln to school for the first time and how worried we were about the process. She said she understood but I feel our situation is more sensitive than she might think. This will be his first time in a new space without us. We're trying to prepare everyone for the inevitable, even telling him we'll be right outside. We will, really. I won't want to leave...

It's hard to believe he is just starting. How soon before he graduates? Kindergarten, High School, and College- it's nerve racking to think about how quickly the time will fly by. I think the best way to commemorate any occasion is with a beautifully customized card. That's when I found BasicInvite.com! It is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online which is super convenient and let's you customize any invitations and graduation party announcements just the way you want it. With the kids on their way to school, I'm already looking through Basic Invites' different graduation options but they have something for every occasion between the holidays, birthdays, and so much more! They truly aim for perfection when they send you samples of the cards you've created before you even place your order. This lets you approve of the quality, material, and print. You'll get complimentary white envelopes with your order and you have the option to upgrade for a small fee to printed envelopes with guests' names and color options for a more elevated look that compliment your event theme. My favorite part about Basic Invite is their Address Capturing Service that makes gathering and collecting addresses from my friends and family easy with the tap of a few buttons. Basic Invite even offers a multitude of elegant additions including a metallic foil which can be raised if selected. In association with Basic Invite, I can offer you a 15% discount with coupon code: 15FF51. I hope you give it a try and love them as much as I do!
