The Summer of Firsts

Four is such an exciting age, don't you think? At the age of 4 you finally get to go to school and sign up for sports, and make new friends. You get to look forward to new experiences and appreciate them with a thoughtful, new perspective. With my son, he started his first year of T-Ball and later, he'll start TK! Because of these new experiences, he's also being exposed to people who are positively influencing his growth and development. While these are only a hand-full of the many firsts in his life, I know they are also the beginning to what will be a life filled with love, hope, and laughter and I as his mother am so excited to support him through every bit of it.

With his passion for sports, sending Lincoln to his first season of T-Ball was a natural next step before school began. In his timid nature, he was hesitant to be in this new environment, but because he's played so much with his dad, he was already familiar with the rules. We knew he'd excel. With the introduction to the team sport, Lincoln met his first coach who we recognized to be incredibly patient and encouraging. Throughout the season we saw this helped Lincoln to gain confidence and participate more enthusiastically. Since T-Ball ended, Lincoln was then rewarded his first trophy and was invited to a pizza party to celebrate! Unfortunately, the boys weren't feeling well so we had to skip the ceremony which hurt, but these connections he made with his teammates unveiled many other opportunities to socialize and bond outside of the sport. He's already been invited to his first friend birthday party and just had his first play date!! Now, Lincoln is signed up to play soccer and can expect to be joined by his t-ball coach and teammates. Moreover, now that Lincoln is exposed to the concept of making friends and being away from the house, I can have confidence that he will go into his first year of school as prepared as we can make him.
