For Aspiring Businesswomen, Both Young and Old

Monica Dallyn

We’ve made great strides promoting gender equality in the workplace and the future is bright for aspiring businesswomen and entrepreneurs, both young and old!

The world needs more women in leadership positions. As a woman pursuing a career in business, you have the power to make a positive impact in your community and in the business world while breaking down barriers for future generations of women.

It's important to remember that success is not just about being ambitious. It's also about having the confidence to take risks and present your ideas to the world, even if nobody else shares your vision. You have a unique perspective and skill set to offer, and your ideas and contributions will make a difference. Embrace your femininity, your intelligence, and your creativity. They are your greatest strengths.

Networking and mentorship are keys to success in any field, and this is especially true for businesswomen. Don't be afraid to reach out to successful women that you admire to ask for advice and to learn from their experiences. Confident, successful businesswomen are eager to help the next generation of female leaders, and you can benefit greatly from their guidance. Having a mentor can save you hours of work and years of pitfalls. If you get the opportunity to work with someone that is willing to mentor you, take it!

Remember that setbacks and even failures are a natural part of the learning process. Don't let the fear of failure hold you back from taking risks and pursuing your goals. Instead, view setbacks and "failures" as temporary challenges, review them and use them as opportunities to grow and learn. That being said, don’t let the fear of SUCCESS hold you back, either! You deserve it and when you excel and stand out because of your accomplishments you give other women permission to do the same. You never know who you’re inspiring with that passion and drive of yours! When I first started my business, I made mistakes and faced setbacks, but I learned from them and used them to become stronger and more resilient. It's important to be willing to take risks and to not give up when things get tough.

Whether you choose to build your own business or to climb the corporate ladder, stay true to yourself and your values. In the business world, it can be easy to get caught up in the pursuit of success and forget what's truly important. Don't compromise your integrity or sacrifice your personal life for your career. You can be a successful businesswoman while also maintaining a healthy work-life balance and living a fulfilling life outside of work. Always remember your "why". Is your "why" only to make more money, or is it to make more money so that you could travel more often and create lasting memories with your family? Is your "why" better schools for your children, to pay off loans, or to buy a new home? Only you can answer that question, but keeping your "why" top of mind will keep you focused and will help you maintain your integrity while also rising to the top of your field.

As an aspiring businesswoman, the future is bright, and the world needs your unique perspective and contributions. Embrace challenges, seek mentorship and support, and stay true to yourself and your values. You have the power to make a difference and to have a positive impact in this world that can help break down barriers for future generations. Rise above gender stereotypes and biases that make it difficult to be taken seriously. You have a unique set of skills and perspectives that can make you stand out in any field. With perseverance and determination, you can and WILL achieve great things.

You don't have to take this journey alone. Surround yourself with a strong support system. As your business grows be sure to build a team that understands your vision and is on board to help you achieve your goals. Sure, wearing all the hats is possible, but it will inevitably cut into your "me" time and your goals will take longer to achieve. Remember, there are only 168 hours in each week and you still need to eat, sleep, exercise and spend quality time with your loved ones. You will need to delegate tasks at some point to be able to expand and grow. Choose team members that you respect and connect with. They are there to support your vision and can help your business grow exponentially under your leadership.

In conclusion, I want to encourage you to pursue your dreams, no matter how lofty they may be. The road to success may not always be easy, but it is definitely worth it. Remember that you have a community of strong, talented women behind you, cheering you on every step of the way. I can't wait to see all that you will achieve!
